Lake Nakuru National Park

Nestled in the heart of Kenya’s Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru National Park is a compact but incredibly diverse wildlife haven, covering about 188 square kilometers. Centered around the shimmering Lake Nakuru, the park is world-famous for its flamingos, dramatic scenery, and endangered rhino populations. Once known primarily for its millions of flamingos painting the lake pink, Lake Nakuru has evolved into a premier wildlife destination. It’s one of the best places in Kenya to spot both black and white rhinos, as well as Rothschild’s giraffes, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and over 450 species of birds. The park’s diverse habitats — from acacia woodlands and bushy grasslands to rocky escarpments and the lake itself — provide a unique ecosystem teeming with life. Lake Nakuru is also one of the few fenced national parks in Kenya, ensuring greater protection for its rare species.
