An 8-day safari through Samburu Game Reserve, Sweetwaters Sanctuary, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Masai Mara National Reserve is an ideal way to explore a variety of Kenya’s ecosystems, from the dry northern savannas to the lush wetlands, and ending in the iconic Maasai Mara. Safari Plan
Day 1: Nairobi – Transfer to Samburu
You will be picked from your Nairobi hotel by our driver. Immediately depart for Samburu passing through the equator line to Samburu land. Arrive with a short game drive en route to the lodge/camp for lunch. After lunch, relax before a game drive at 4p.m. Samburu Park has unique residents including the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the Blue legged Somali Ostrich. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 2: Samburu – Full day
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in search of unique northern Kenya species such as the reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra, and the long-necked gerenuk. Much of the reserve consists of desert landscape; dusty red plains broken by thorny scrub, featuring dramatic views of table top Mt Ol Olokwe on the horizon. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 3: Samburu – Transfer to Sweetwaters
Depart Samburu after breakfast arriving in time for lunch at Sweetwaters Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a beautiful private game reserve and home to rare species such as Beisa oryx, Rothschild’s giraffe and black rhino. Game drives here reveal the full range of African wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and hippo. Enjoy a private visit with the tame animals at the wildlife orphanage. Observe chimps at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary as well. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 4: Sweetwaters – Transfer to Lake Nakuru
Have breakfast then depart for Lake Nakuru arriving before lunch time. Later afternoon game drive to see one of the largest ornithological spots, Flamingo, and a variety of wildlife not forgetting the famous white Rhino and black rhino found in this park. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru – Transfer to Maasai Mara
After breakfast leave Lake Nakuru for Maasai Mara arriving in time for lunch. You will have a game drive as you head to the camp for lunch. Another game drive will be at 4p.m. Look out for Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Buffalo. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 6 & 7: Maasai Mara – Full day game drives
These 2 whole days will be spent with morning and afternoon game drives that lead one to some of Africa’s largest lion prides, herds of zebra, antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeest, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas. In between game drives, there will be picnic lunch along the banks of Mara River. Dinner and Overnight at the camp/lodge.
Day 8: Maasai Mara – Transfer to Nairobi
Have breakfast at the lodge depart for Nairobi to arrive by lunch time. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Carnivore Restaurant for lunch. Afterwards drop off at airport for flight back home or hotel of your choice.
Alternatively, spend the afternoon visiting Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen or Kazuri Beads to buy souvenirs. All these are optional. Later, you can have dinner which is followed by a drop off at the airport for your flight back home or hotel of your choice.
